Bringing Smiles To South Tampa

Meet Dr. Bawany

Dr. Bawany is on a mission to change dentistry for the better. After spending countless hours in the dental chair as a patient, he decided to change his career path and become a dentist to deliver a better experience for his own patients. Throughout his visits with the dentist, Dr. Bawany learned to appreciate what an impact a dentist can have on their patients. As such, empathy and compassion have been the seed for the vision Dr. Bawany had when he was first dreaming about Tampa Smile Co.

Dr. Bawany is committed to developing strong relationships with his patients and making an impact in their lives and the community one smile at a time. Throughout his life, Dr. Bawany has had the opportunity to explore all that Florida has to offer and decided that there is nowhere else he would rather practice and settle down than the wonderful city of Tampa Bay. When he is not in the office, he can be found exploring all that this wonderful city has to offer with his wife, Madeleine.

How Often Should I See My Dentist?

You should see your dentist every six months, unless they recommend a more frequent treatment interval. For example, some patients with gum disease may need to visit the dentist every three months for special cleanings to get their oral health under control.

But for most people, six-month visits with Dr. Mohammad Bawany are ideal. By seeing the team at Tampa Smile Co. twice each year for preventive dental care, you can stay on top of your oral health. Dr. Bawany can track any changes in your mouth or your smile, and use oral exams and x-rays to look for signs of hidden oral health problems. This gives you valuable peace of mind!

What Can I Expect During My Dental Checkup?

Before your oral exam, one of the hygienists at Tampa Smile Co. will take x-rays, then clean your teeth. X-rays are taken if you’re a new patient, or once every year if you’re an existing patient. After x-rays, your hygienist will clean plaque and tartar away from your teeth, polish them, and floss them.

After your dental cleaning, Dr. Bawany will perform an oral exam. He’ll review your x-rays and oral health records, and take a look at the state of your mouth, looking for signs of common issues like tooth decay, gum disease, teeth grinding, and more. Once he’s done, he’ll discuss his results with you. If further treatment is needed, he’ll help you choose the right option and schedule the follow-up care that you need.

Can I Use Dental Insurance?

You should look for an expert who can treat the whole family, and offers a variety of comprehensive dental services under one roof. Speaking of which, location matters, too! You want a dentist who is conveniently located near you and your family, since this makes it easier to come in for six-month visits and other appointments.

At Tampa Smile Co., we offer expert treatment in a comfortable, child-friendly environment. With a wide variety of dental services as well as dental sedation for nervous patients, our judgment-free office is the best place to get the convenient care you need in South Tampa.

How Can I Maintain A Healthy Smile?

The most important thing is to brush and floss regularly. You should brush at least twice per day using fluoride toothpaste. Brush for two minutes, and clean the front, top, and back surfaces of each tooth thoroughly. Fluoride helps fight back against tooth decay, so make sure you use ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste.

Flossing once per day also helps remove debris and food particles that won’t be removed with brushing alone, so make sure you floss. Using mouthwash after flossing can also help rinse away stubborn particles and keep your smile healthy.

Your lifestyle matters, too. Quitting smoking, vaping, and other types of tobacco/nicotine use helps you maintain a healthy mouth. Staying properly hydrated and eating a diet that’s low in sugar and processed foods will also help you fight back against tooth decay and maintain a healthy mouth.

Why Are Regular Dental Visits Important?

right arrow

At regular dental visits, your dentist hygienist at Tampa Smile Co. will be able to clean your teeth more deeply and thoroughly than you can on your own. This keeps your smile clean and sparkly, and also helps eliminate bacteria, plaque, and tartar that can contribute to gum disease and cavities.

But more importantly, six-month visits let Dr. Bawany keep an eye on your mouth, and notice changes to your oral health. For example, he may notice a small cavity, early signs of tooth decay, or even worn-out dental work like a filling that needs to be replaced. By seeing us every six months, you can stay on top of your oral health, get any necessary treatments, and keep your smile healthy.
